She is adventurous [into canoeing, dragon boating, indoor rock climbing, cycling].
She is crafty [in the she-can-knit-sense, not she-would-pull-off-a-heist-sense].
She is beautiful.
She has great style.
She is trilingual [French, English and Portuguese!].
She is a Geological Engineer!
And she has been my friend since 2005 [grade eleven].
Susanne just graduated last year from Politechnique Montreal and she moved to Calgary yesterday for a job with an engineering firm called Thurber Engineering. She will be one of Thurber's Junior Geotechnical Engineers dealing with geo-hazards such as land slides and rock falls. Pretty cool!
We squeezed in her shoot on Thursday - just two days before her flight to the prairie province. Originally, Susanne was going to be staying in Nanaimo and her boyfriend, Pascal, was going to come out from Quebec and live here too. We were then going to do a couple's portrait session, but now that she has this new job in Calgary, Pascal is going to join her in Alberta. So Susanne and I decided to still do a portrait shoot, even though we are missing Pascal. Perhaps one day you'll see both of them here.
The day of the shoot it was cold with a fog that was beginning to lift. It created an enticing backdrop if you ask me. The shoot location was very geological, as Susanne pointed out.
